VMware partners with NVidia to Launch AI Chips

VMware consolidated its partnership with Nvidia to develop and introduce AI applications accelerated by GPU. It has launched a new architecture that integrates well with the latest data center processing units of Nvidia. These applications will function within the hybrid cloud environments currently available. The collaboration of Nvidia NGC Sofware with VMware, vSphere is an extension of the existing partnership between the two companies.

The deal entered into in 2019 offers users GPU-accelerated virtual machines for data analytics, AI applications, and high-performance computing. This is part of Nvidia’s plan to become a leading computing manufacturer. It plans to move into CPUs; a step ahead of its current focus on GPU. Nvidia has taken over Arm, a British chip designer.

Project Monterey is VMware’s hybrid cloud architecture. When blended with the SmartNIC data processing units of Nvidia, it can create high-performance chips for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. These chips will align well with high-throughput applications. This integration will augur well for customers as they can convert any data center into an AI-led supercomputer.

The DPUs provided by Nvidia allows customers the flexibility to build data centers that are secure and work at an exceptional value. They can run all the applications on VMware platforms. This can benefit sectors as diverse as manufacturing and medical care and other industries. It will now be easier to convert your enterprise platform and make it AI-ready.

Nvidia has leveraged the AI algorithm to run off the GPU. This is a revolutionary move to utilize the power of the GPU’s huge parallel computing resources. The Bitfusion solution offered by VMware allows GPU virtualization for AI applications. The integrated move with Nvidia will bring down the costs of hardware for AI and other high-performance applications. The integration can enable organizations to expand their existing hardware platforms so that their data can be used for AI applications within the same infrastructure.

Every industry has an urge to leverage the power of machine learning and AI to further their business. With this integration, customers can build secure data centers that are programmable. The collaboration can help every organization to accelerate towards applications and technologies that expand their business. And it functions well for remote working too. This is the need of the hour with most of the tech force working remotely for a long time to come.

The University of California San Francisco uses VMware Cloud Foundation for critical work along with the Nvidia Clara healthcare framework. At the UCSF center, AI technology is harnessed to aid the study of patient images for quicker detection of disease. It is a boon for urgent diagnostics where time is of the essence. In this way, they can treat the patients safely and accurately.
