Telefónica launches it’s 5G Network in Spain

Telefónica announced that it has moved to its 5G network in Spain, allowing 75% of the Spanish population to use this new technology by the end of this year. The announcement was made by the Executive Chairman of Telefónica, José María Álvarez-Pallete, who emphasized that the introduction of 5G network is a leap forward towards hyper-connectivity that will transform Spain’s future.

Through this move, Telefónica will speed up the digitization of SMEs, public authorities, and the public at large. “The 5G is Telefónica like fiber and like so many other wonderful items,” explained the chief executive of the company.

Álvarez-Pallete added that their network has always been a differential asset. People’s lives go through it and their network has shown unprecedented strength when it’s needed the most. Spain is now the leading digital infrastructure group with the largest fiber-optic network provider across Europe.

Telefónica, which will be offering services for both private and corporate customers and is committed to direct and indirect cross-cutting benefits that bring 5G to utilize among giant industries such as transport, tourism, energy, the car industry, and healthcare.

Benefits of the 5G Network

This advanced 5G Network would provide ultra-fast communication along with distinctive upstream and downstream bandwidth capabilities, very low latency, and the ability to link millions of devices. 5G’s main shift lies in the fact that it would promote an environment where most of our daily objects will be linked to each other and us, with higher bandwidth and measured in latent speed.

Alvarez-Pallete concluded that everything happens in a millisecond with the 5G. A millisecond is what makes remote surgery, autonomous vehicles, smart management of energy resources and cities, and highly advanced entertainment possible. A millisecond is far more than the new response time. The Telefónica’s reaction to the changing times and contribution towards the future is inevitable.

Usage among Public

For remote users, 5G offers faster speed and lower latency, which enables them, to download a movie in seconds, which is an added advantage. 5G will include the possibility, among other things, of watching live sports broadcasts during which users can gain a 360° experience and can able to see every angle of the match as if they were on the pitch themselves. Gaming enthusiasts would have a mobility experience close to that offered by home fiber i.e. without any interruption or latency. 5G would thus allow them to play on their cell phones and on their home computer screens or video consoles.
