iPhone SE (2020) joins as the 6th in “Assembled in India” series, Apple has started manufacturing the new version of iPhones in India. Sources have confirmed that the upcoming version is currently put into manufacturing at the Wistron facility in Karnataka, India.

This cut off the cost for Apple as they are no more in need to pay the import duty of 20 percent which they should be paying for importing their mobile brands. This is expected to reduce the market price of the new model while launching into the market.

Features of iPhone SE:

In the series of iPhone SE (2016), iPhone 6S, iPhone 7, and the iPhone XR, Apple was just recently started the production of iPhone 11 in Chennai, India in July. There is no information provided by Apple about when the locally manufactured stocks will hit the consumers or stores.

But it is expected the iPhone SE (2020) will be displayed for sale with the tag “Assembled in India” in the upcoming weeks. Apple has said that they are excited to make the iPhone SE (2020) in India for an affordable price to their local customers.

Currently, iPhone SE (2020) accounts for one-third of the total Apple sales within India. Since its launch in India, it holds this massive record as per the stats till April 2020. It carries a starting price of Rs. 42,500 and comes three storage options as following 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB.

It is powered by the same Chip A13 Soc which is available in the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 max, iPhone 11 pro. It also comes with the 12-megapixel rear camera and packs in a chassis similar to the iPhone 8. Experts say that assembling locally will bring cost advantages both to the Apple and Apple users.

Apple in the Global Economy:

As a result of the business clash between America and China, many Apple products moved its production to global countries from China. By the start of the month, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad announced that Apple contract with the manufacturers Foxconn, Wistron and Pegatron, coasting $6,64 billion under the government’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) plan.

Among them, the Foxconn at Chennai and Wistron at Karnataka has started their production. Pegatron has been expected to start their local operations by the end of this year. In addition to that, it is also reported that the manufacturing of the iPhone 12 may start production in India by mid-2021. With this advanced transition, it may boost in-house production and creates a win-win situation for both Apple and its domestic users.
