Smartphone Users to Get 117 New Emojis

Google announced the rollout of its latest version of Android. With Android 11, Smartphone users are expected to get a bunch of new features including 117 new and updated emojis.

Emojis are something that we never really notice unless we can’t find one that matches what I want to say, and then it’s a case of seeing where we can find a suitable example online. We could choose to express my sentiment in actual words, but that would be half the fun or perhaps twice the effort.

In an official blog post, Emojipedia announced that all the new 117 emojis are based on Emoji 13.0 recommendations. Some of the emoji designs had been under beta testing for the last few months. The blog added that the scale of these changes makes Google’s Android 11.0 emoji update the largest since 2017’s Android 8.

Not all the emojis are exactly new as changes also include subtle shading and outline modifications for all people, red hearts instead of purple hearts, and tweaks to many objects and symbols.

The Latest Emojis
The latest emojis will debut in the fall along with the launch of Android 11, with 62 new characters, 55 skin colors, and variants on gender. Some of the new emojis that Android users will get include a smiling face with a tear, disguised Face, and pinched fingers, tamale, a bubble tea (known colloquially as boba tea), a flip flop, a hug emoji, new plants, roller skates, and other inclusive emoji like a woman wearing a suit.

Latest Updates on Emoji Icons

Some of the classic emojis were redesigned and others modified so that they can be seen better when using the dark way. Additions include bottle-feeding parents and transgender flag. Apart from these 10 new people, emojis have also been added with Android 11. 12 new animals, including a black cat and polar bear, a shrimp, and an adorable beaver have also been added.

Android 11 was officially rolled out to a select few qualifying devices. As is the case for all Android updates, when and how brands and carriers carry out Android 11 on their Smartphone’s will come down to that.

Emojipedia has explained that no such updates are available to those with Samsung devices. Samsung has its own set of emoji which is synchronized to Google’s Android emoji updates on a separate schedule. Popular applications like WhatsApp, Twitter, and Facebook now have their unique emoji designs, which are rolling out to Google on a different timetable.
